One of the most important aspects of Mangaloma Reserve is the diversity of birds. To date we have identified more than 290 species, some endangered and others that are difficult to observe in the Chocó Region, such as the Banded Ground Cuckoo (Neomorphus rediolosus), the Umbrellabird (Cephalopterus penduliger), the Ornate Hawk Eagle (Spizaetus ornatus) and the Rufous Throated Tanager (Tangara rufigula).
